🧿Blue-Eyed Blues – Winking Nazar

Inspired by the Nazar charm🧿—commonly seen in Turkey and Greece—this piece gives a playful wink to tradition.
The Nazar comes from the Mediterranean, the blues from America, and the composer—from Asia.
Through humor and music, we can bridge our differences.
In all of my works, I carry one consistent wish: To feel the joy of effortlessly crossing boundaries—of friction, distance, language, and nationality—through music. It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the seriousness of the world we live in, or the uncertainty of the future. But with this piece, I chose not to take things too seriously. Instead, I embraced the wit and humor that make us human. The performers and conductor truly understood the spirit of the piece—they added their own staging: walking in from the audience, crossing their legs, wearing sunglasses, even standing up mid-performance. I’m so grateful for their creativity. Through this creative process, I realized again that “building a piece” is not so different from “building a world.” If we can welcome the spontaneity, rhythm, and imagination of younger generations, perhaps we can create a world as playful, vibrant, and open as this performance.
🧿ブルーアイドブルース – ウィンキングナザール
作曲：野村玲子
トルコやギリシャでよく見かける護符「ナザール🧿」に着想を得て、 伝統にウィンクするブルース作品に仕上げました。 ナザールは地中海から、ブルースはアメリカから、作曲家はアジアから。 違いを超えるユーモアと音楽の力を信じて。
どの作品にも共通するのですが、私は常に「軋轢や隔たり、国境や言語といった壁を、音楽で軽々と越えられる喜び」を感じたいと思っています。 現状や未来に対して、つい深刻に考え過ぎてしまうこともあるのですが、この作品ではあえて“真面目になりすぎず”、人間の持つウィットや遊び心を使って挑戦してみました。 演奏者と指揮者がその意図を汲み取ってくれて、客席から登場したり、足を組んだり、サングラスをかけたり、立ち上がったり…自由な演出を加えてくれたことにも感謝しています。 作品づくりを通して改めて思ったのは、「世界づくり」もきっと同じ。 若い世代のノリやアイデアをどんどん取り入れながら、もっと面白い未来にしていけたら──そんな願いも込めています。
